XGen Pharmaceuticals DJB announced that they have made an essential medicine donation to Americares Foundation and Kingsway Charities valuing $2.5 million. These two organizations are global leaders in providing humanitarian aid around the world by way of Medical Missions, supporting namely the Armenia Artsakh Fund in Armenia and the Koutiala Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KWCH) in southeastern Mali.
The Armenia Artsakh Fund (AAF) is a U.S.-based non-profit organization that was established in 2015. The AAF uses the resources of the Armenian Diaspora to support Armenia with kind donations, financial resources, and capacity building projects. In collaboration with the Armenian Ministry of Health, AAF provides medical aid to health care institutions that serve approximately 85% of the Armenian population. KWCH is a non-governmental organization located in Southwestern Mali, that supports and sub-distributes products to 20 health centers and three additional hospitals. KWCH seeks to provide quality, specialized health care to women and children in the area. They do this by providing some services and training in the areas of obstetrics, gynecology, and pediatrics. They also help support and treat various inpatient acute care conditions to include sickle cell anemia, diabetes, cancer, HIV, fistula repair surgery, tuberculosis, malnutrition, pediatric surgery, and maxillofacial surgery. KWCH serves a catchment population of nearly 220,000 people.
XGen DJB’s charitable contributions included acute care injectable medicines including Dactinomycin. The Assistant Medical Director of Koutiala Women’s and Children’s Hospital pointed out that their need for Dactinomycin is especially high since Dactinomycin is used to treat those patients suffering from various forms of cancer. The hospital has been searching for a cost-effective way to receive this medication for an extended period of time and was delighted and very pleased to see it come through as an offer from Americares. The hospital cannot afford to procure the medication, due to budget limitations, so this donation is truly a game-changer for the hospital and its patients who are in need of it.
